Warning: reading this blog could save you hundreds of £££s! 10 ways to get your hands on FREE & CHEAP stuff this week...

Welcome back to Broke in Bristol – the blog that helps you save money, make money and live life to the full on a budget. I’m Ms Broke in Bristol and I’ve got 10 tips that will save you money this week!

Freedog for £7

Little Miss Diva has been nagging me to take her to Bristol’s latest trampoline park and play area for some time now. If your ears have been ringing too, check out Groupon’s deal which gives you an hour’s access for £7 instead of £10.

Free pint, Mojito, Pimms

Fancy a free pint? If that’s a silly question then sign up to the Marston’s site and take your voucher into your local Marston’s Inn. You’ll be surprised how many Marston's pubs there are in Bristol. Or if you’d prefer a Mojito, download the Bargain Booze app and claim a free Parrot Bay Mojito or Pimms.

75% off your 1st order with JustFab

I’ve just bagged myself a lovely pair of winter boots for just over a tenner, thanks to JustFab’s 75% off your first order promotion. Click here for some lovely styles to help brighten up your winter wardrobe.

Spread the cost of Christmas with Toysrus

If you haven’t heard yet, Christmas could be so much easier this year thanks to Toysrus’ Take Time to Pay plan. Put down a 20% deposit and pay the rest over a 4, 8 or 12 week period. There’s no interest to pay, so this should make life easier for lots of cash-strapped parents this year.

Free Christmas presents

Here at Broke in Bristol we like to go one step further and tell you how you can get FREE Christmas presents (when we can!). Reader Josie Abram told us that you can earn free Usborne books for Christmas (up to £25 worth) by hosting a party or by being a book worm. Take a look at her page if you want to find out more.

Book your Christmas travel now

You can save hundreds of pounds on your train tickets by booking them 12 weeks in advance. Sign up to Trainline’s Ticket Alerts over the next couple of weeks for details on the cheapest rail tickets available over the holiday period. It’s also perfectly legal to split tickets, so see if it’s cheaper to break up your journey (you don’t have to actually get off the train!)

Free courses

I’ve started my free Digital Marketing course with Shaw Academy which would usually set you back nearly £400. I thought it was worth mentioning again because there are so many courses to choose from including Financial Trading, Photography and Nutrition. The first course is completely free and you can do it from the comfort of your own home – so you have absolutely nothing to lose. Plus you’ll feel great for starting your New Year’s resolutions four months early!

Interest free credit cards

I’ve just signed up to M&S’ latest credit card which is offering 25 months’ interest free on transfers and shopping as well as £24.99 just for spending a penny. There are loads of great credit card deals available at the moment including Sainsbury’s 27 months 0% spending and the Post Office 27 months 0% spending card. Not sure whether you should take out a credit card or a loan? Guest blogger, Imogen Lyons, has penned Managing your Finances: Credit Cards and Overdrafts which you can read here.

Pound shop do’s & don’ts….

I bought a roller from the Poundshop the other day and spent more time picking the roller fluff off the walls than I did painting! That might have been one of my Poundshop disasters but I did pick up a pack of four floor tiles from my local store in Avonmeads for a quid. They’ll make the room look a bit tidier until I get round to decorating it properly. For other Poundshop do’s and don’ts check out my Poundshop blog.

One last cheap trip to the seaside…

I might try and fit in one more trip to the seaside before Autumn and I’d love to take Little Miss Diva to the Sand Sculpture Festival at Weston-super-Mare. Until 9 October you can get 50% off with Groupon, so a family of two adults and two children will pay £7.50 and you’ll get two hot drinks and a programme thrown in too.

That’s my 10 ways to get stuff for free or for cheap in Bristol this week. Do you have any tips of your own? If you hear of a cheap local deal or event please email hi@brokeinbristol.co.uk and we’ll do our best to spread the word. Don’t forget to like our Facebook page, so that you never miss an update! We’ll be back on Thursday with our top picks of free and cheap things to do with or without the kids. See you then!
