Welcome back to Broke in Bristol – the blog that helps you save money, make money and live life to the full on a budget. I’m Ms Broke in Bristol and I’ve got 10 tips that will save you money this week!
Free money & champers!
If you’ve been inspired by the Great British Bake Off then put on your apron and start baking. The Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Knowle will be supporting the Macmillan Coffee Morning this Friday 30 September with a cake competition and one talented baker will win £25 and a bottle of bubbly! Just click here for more details.
Jawbone Fitness Band less than half price
Fitness Bands are all the rage at the moment and Currys has got some of these on sale for less than half price, so you can pick one up for £34.99. This is the perfect Christmas present for fitness fanatics.
I’m thinking of buying Mr Spendthrift a MoveGB pass because he’s thinking of trying yoga to help with his back pain. Buy a pass from as little as £14 and you can choose from 10 gym/fitness or swimming/yoga sessions, which will make your classes so much cheaper.
Fear Avon Valley Event
Now this is a cheap way to treat the kids this Halloween. During half-term, Avon Valley will be transformed into a night of scary entertainment! For just £9, you get two passes into the Anarchy, Phobia and Purgatory attractions and there will be loads for the kids to do including fairground rides, which sounds right up Little Miss Diva’s street!
Free Pizza Hut voucher
Students we don’t want you to starve so we thought we’d let you know about Pizza Hut’s free £5 voucher. All you have to do is sign up to its Student club newsletter to claim your £5 – save us a slice!
Free make up
Make up doesn’t come cheap so if you get the chance to try before you buy, I would definitely recommend it. Mac is recruiting product testers and if you’re selected you will be sent a goody bag worth £100! All you have to do is test and review the products and you get to keep the lot!
Next sale 50% off
There’s still time to bag a bargain in the Next sale. This is one of my favourite sales of the year because I can’t usually afford to shop in there! Also, have you checked out the new Next Clearance store in Avonmeads yet? I’m not sure when it arrived as I only noticed it last week, but it’s great for bagging a bargain.
Spider catcher £6.99
I’m going to buy myself a cheap spider catcher for when Mr Spendthrift isn’t on hand to safely place them outdoors. Like many other Bristol residents, I’ve shared my house with a couple of humongous ones over the last couple of weeks and I am a little ashamed to admit it, but they scare me senseless! I really hope I’m brave enough to use a Spider Catcher and the cheapest one I’ve found is £6.99 on Ebay.
Poundland’s Halloween range….
They only wear it for one night a year, so why spend more than you need to? I always take Little Miss Diva to Poundland for her Halloween outfit and accessories. You can also pick up party decorations, tableware and scary DVDs. For other Poundshop do’s and don’ts check out my Poundshop blog.
Kids party for a tenner!
If your kids are about to celebrate their birthday (10 or older) take them paint-balling for their next birthday party. It will cost just £10 in total for them and nine mates and a hot lunch is supplied too! They’ll have the chance to play ten or so games at the site in Thornbury, so they won’t be rushed in and out either. Who said kids’ birthday parties had to break the bank?
That’s my 10 ways to get stuff for free or cheap in Bristol this week. Do you have any tips of your own?
