12 Valentine's Day gifts for £1

February 8, 2017

Welcome back to Broke in Bristol – the blog that helps you save money, make money and live life to the full on a budget.  I’m not the world’s biggest romantic but I do like to buy Mr Spendthrift and Little Miss Diva a little something to show I care on Valentine’s Day. That said, there’s no way I’m going to go over the top on what is essentially a load of commercialised c**p. So, this week, I popped along to Poundland in Bedminster to see what bargains I could find!

  1. Cook book. If your t’other half is a Nigella Lawson or Jamie Oliver wannabe, you can’t go wrong with a good ol’ cook book. With any luck they might even cook you dinner!

  2. Message in a bottle. Yes it’s really cheesy, but Little Miss Diva is going to love this! That’s as long as I write a sweet love note to put inside and not “tidy your room”.

  3. Furry handcuffs. Oh er missus – enough said!

  4. Memory box. A very thoughtful present that will make someone’s day if you take the time to fill it with a couple of little keepsakes, like a photo or a lock of hair.

  5. Milk Tray. Never mind because ladies love Milk Tray, this one’s for Mr Spendthrift’s sweet tooth.

  6. Naughty bedroom set. An eye mask and hand ties – perfect for 50 Shades fans.

  7. Loveheart cup. Ideal for tea lovers.

  8. Wine bottle holder. Ideal for wine lovers!

  9. A romantic DVD. Poundland’s DVDs are a mixture of ex-retail, warehouse and privately collected stock that have been fully refurbished. I spotted P.s. I love you in the Bedminster store.

  10. Photo frame. Sometimes it really is the thought that counts! Print off your favourite pic and the job’s a good un!

  11. Teddy bear. Not exactly big enough to hug, but it is only a quid.

  12. Red roses. Personally, I'd rather have cheap, fake flowers than ones that set you back the best part of 30 quid only for them to wilt in a few days.

All these bargains were found in Poundland in Bedminster, Bristol this week and although there are pound shops up and down the country, stores vary their stock. What are your best Valentine’s Day bargains? Please let us know by leaving a comment and don’t forget to like our Facebook page so that you never miss an update. Feel free to share the love!
