Weekend guide: Five free things to do with the family (Mar 10 – 12)

Fri Mar 10 from 3 ‘til 6pm

If you hurry you’ve got time to get on down to Millennium Square to celebrate the beginning of British Science Week and the Science Film Festival. Join Justin Quinnell, who is famed for his pinhole camera work and discover what it’s like to live in an upside down world. Click here for more details.

 

Sat Mar 11 from 11.30am to 2.30pm

This Saturday there’s a Fairtrade Coffeelicious tasting and shopping event at the New Room where you can find out more about fairtrade coffee. The event includes free fairtrade coffee tastings, children’s quiz and films showing more about the world of fairtrade. Maura Tarquin Blandon, a coffee and cocoa farmer from Nicaragua, will be talking about the difference fairtrade has made to her life at 12:30. This is a free event but organisers are asking you to register by clicking here beforehand.

 

Sat Mar 11 & Sun Mar 12 from 6 til 9pm

The Window Wanderland Trail moves to Bedminster this weekend and you can get involved by making a creation for your own window or just have a walk around and enjoy the view. Find out more here.

The Bristol Film Festival takes over the city and at the RWA on Sat Mar 11 there’s a free screening of a documentary that explores Bristol’s printing history and heritage. On Sun 12 there’s a free short film showcase which will feature locally produced independent short films.  See the website for full details of events.

 

Sun Mar 12 from 11.30 to 2.00pm

Chloe from Kids Cre8 will be running a wire tree workshop for children of all ages at The Tobacco Factory this Sunday. Pop along and create something new to take home from 11.30 'til 2pm. Find out more here.
