Tuesday tips & deals of the week

March 10, 2020

Welcome back to your weekly edition of Tuesday tips where I round up all the best food and drink bargains in Bristol and beyond. Tuesday might be a great day for bargain lovers but I'm already looking forward to Friday as I'm meeting a friend for lunch and we're going to treat ourselves to a meal at The Crown Inn, Keynsham where you can enjoy three courses for just £5.49!

Pop in any day of the week between 12 and 5pm and choose from starters like soup or spring rolls, mains including cheese and potato pie or chilli con carne and desserts such as Apple & Blackcurrant Crumble or Chocolate Fudge Cake. Alternatively, swap your dessert for a Costa Coffee for just £1 extra. Bargain!

Have you been to Yakinori on Park Street yet? Little Miss Diva loves Japanese food so it's definitely on my radar and I've just noticed it has some great offers at its Bristol restaurant. You can treat yourself to a two-course lunch Monday to Friday for £9.99, get 25% off Sushi on a Sunday or enjoy 50% off its vegan menu on Meat Free Monday.

Cheers to that

If you're planning on stocking up your drinks cabinet in time for summer then you might like to know that Aldi is launching four new gins on March 16 including a summer trifle that tastes of raspberry, vanilla sponge and custard for just £9.99.  Apparently, the gin shimmers when you shake it as well – what more could you want from a summer tipple?

As well as the Summer Trifle flavour, Aldi is also launching a liqueur tasting of raspberry, vanilla and coconut, a raspberry and watermelon version or a strawberry lemonade gin. The summer trifle and raspberry and watermelon flavours are £9.99 per 50cl, compared to £11.99 for the other flavours.

Ongoing local deals.

Last week I treated my daughter to Yo! Sushi for her birthday and saved 25% off the food bill with my Tastecard membership, which I paid just £1 for a 60 days trial. Top tip: make sure you write the date in your diary when you need to cancel if you don't want to be charged the full amount of £39.99 which it will take automatically if you don't cancel.

I also have a free lifetime membership to the Gourmet Society so I usually use this card to save up to 50% off eating out and the cinema – or I take advantage of my Meerkat Movies and Meals membership so there really is no need to ever pay full price again.

You can get £1 tacos at any Wahaca every Tuesday and Thursday – Wahaca in Bristol is located at the top of Park St in the Clifton Triangle and it’s £1 for your first taco and £5.95 for any more.

Penny Pizza Tuesday

Fancy a slice or two of pizza? You can get a pizza for just 1p when you buy another at Racks Bar and Kitchen located in the Clifton Hotel on St Paul’s Road. The offer is on all day every Tuesday and pizza prices start at just £8.50. I went there for my birthday in February – they have lunch deals for just £6 every day of the week and it's also dog friendly.

On a Wednesday check out Southside’s burger and a drink deal for £11 or their Thursday offer of a pizza and a drink for £11. If you prefer the centre of town then did you know that The Crown in St Nicholas Market has a lunchtime deal every day of the week where you can pay a fiver and get a drink for just £1 extra. Or if you fancy a carb fix of burger and fries you can fill your boots at Three Brothers Burgers on Tuesday – or indeed any day of the week including weekends (check the website for times).

I’m sure there are lots more deals going on in Bristol and I’m hoping to add to the list every week. In the meantime, why don’t you let me know what local deals you love so that I can feature them in Tuesday tips next week? Don’t forget, Broke in Bristol - & beyond is on FacebookInstagram and Twitter, like or follow to the be the first to know about all the latest deals, discounts and days out.
